xProduct Overview
The Genuine Porsche Body Rubber Grommet Seal 99970224640 is a small genuine rubber grommet, also described as a rubber sleeve, used on Porsche 911 and Boxster models. AutoAtlanta lists it as a grommet sized 12,0 x 17,0 x 3 and 12,0 x 25,6 x 17 in its catalogue descriptions, appearing in engine and body sections, while RM European describes it specifically as an air filter housing grommet for select Porsche 911 models, with two required per vehicle in that application. Small grommets protect, seat and seal components, and they harden with age and heat.
Part Numbers & Reference Codes
OE part number: 99970224640, also written 999-702-246-40 or 999 702 246 40. This is a Porsche 999-series standard hardware number, so the same grommet can appear in more than one diagram and position across models. Always order and verify by the full number 99970224640, and tell our team which position you need it for, so we can check the correct diagram for your car.
Vehicle Compatibility & Fitment
RM European lists this grommet for Porsche 911 Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Turbo, GT2, GT3 and Targa models across the 996, 997 and 991 chassis, model years 1999 to 2016, in the air filter housing application. AutoAtlanta also catalogues it for Boxster 986 and 911 996 and 997 era cars in engine sections. Because a hardware grommet can serve several positions, confirm your model, position and VIN with our team before ordering.
Key Features & Benefits
- Genuine Porsche hardware: original rubber grommet made to Porsche specification, not a generic hardware store substitute.
- Catalogued size: listed as a 12,0 x 17,0 x 3 grommet in Porsche catalogue descriptions, for a correct seat in its housing or panel.
- Seating and sealing: supports and seals the component it serves, including the air filter housing application, reducing movement and ingress.
- Renew with confidence: replacing a hardened or split grommet during related work prevents repeat strip-down for a low cost part.

The installation position depends on the application on your car, including the air filter housing position verified for select 911 models. Because this 999-series number appears in multiple diagrams, check the position against the factory diagram for your VIN before fitting and order the quantity your position requires.
Product Brand, Type & Condition
Brand: Porsche. Type: rubber grommet seal, also called a rubber sleeve. Condition: brand-new genuine OEM part, supplied exactly as the factory produces it. The live title describes it as a body rubber grommet seal, which matches its general hardware identity, while the specific verified application on 911 models is the air filter housing.
What's Included in the Box
This listing includes one (1) Genuine Porsche Rubber Grommet, OE part number 99970224640, unless a quantity is stated otherwise at checkout. Where an application requires two grommets, such as the air filter housing application noted by RM European, order the quantity your car needs. Housings, panels and fasteners are not included.
Installation Requirements
Fitting is usually straightforward, but access varies by position. Work on a clean seat, avoid sharp tools that can cut the new rubber, and confirm the grommet is fully seated before refitting the component it supports. Professional fitting is recommended where the position requires removing the air filter housing or body panels.
