Genuine Land Rover Rear Fog Lamp Light Unit LR102042

Genuine Land Rover Rear Fog Lamp Light Unit LR102042 — OE Rear Visibility

The Genuine Land Rover Rear Fog Lamp Light Unit LR102042 is the original rear fog lamp assembly built for your Land Rover. The rear fog lamp is a dedicated high-intensity red lamp that makes your vehicle visible from behind in heavy fog, dust and rain — conditions UAE drivers face regularly during fog season and desert sandstorms. A cracked lens, moisture inside the housing or a dead lamp leaves you less visible when it matters most.

Choosing the genuine LR102042 means the lamp's brightness, beam pattern and connector match Land Rover's original specification exactly — a straight swap with no wiring modifications and no dashboard warnings.

Function — What the Rear Fog Lamp Does

The rear fog lamp is a single, high-intensity red light mounted at the rear of the vehicle, separate from the tail and brake lamps. It is switched on by the driver in poor visibility and its intense output cuts through fog, heavy rain and dust far better than standard tail lamps. The LR102042 unit includes the lens, reflector, bulb holder and sealed housing engineered to Land Rover's photometric specification — so the light reaches the legally required intensity and spread without dazzling following drivers in normal conditions.

Failure Symptoms — When to Replace It

The most obvious symptom is a rear fog lamp warning or no light when the switch is activated. Look for a cracked or faded lens, condensation trapped inside the housing, corroded bulb contacts, or a lamp that works intermittently. Moisture ingress is common on older units and corrodes the internal reflector, permanently reducing light output. If your Land Rover fails its registration inspection over lighting, the rear fog lamp is one of the first items checked.

Genuine Advantage — Why OEM Matters for Lighting

Lighting parts are safety parts, and genuine units carry the exact photometric design the vehicle was type-approved with. The genuine LR102042 lens uses the correct red filtration and reflector geometry for the specified brightness — aftermarket copies are frequently too dim or bleed white light at the edges. The housing seal and connector are matched to the vehicle's wiring loom, so the lamp survives pressure washes and wadi crossings without letting moisture in, and the connector clicks in with no splicing.

Install Notes — A Straightforward Swap

Replacement is normally a trim-off, connector-off job: access the rear lamp housing from inside the tailgate or bumper area, release the electrical connector, unclip the old unit and fit the new LR102042. The connector is keyed so it cannot be fitted backwards. While access is open, check the surrounding wiring for chafing and make sure the new unit's seal sits flush — that is what keeps water out for years to come.
