xGenuine Maserati Alternator Drive Belt 286570
Part number 286570 designates the drive belt for the alternator on compatible Maserati Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte models.
In Maserati parts catalogues, the belt is alternatively described as the Alternator Control Belt, Alternator Driving Belt, or Cinghia Comando Alternatore. Its purpose is to transmit the power needed to drive the alternator from the engine.
The alternator allows the vehicle to charge the battery while the engine runs, and that requires the drive belt to remain engaged with the pulleys connected to the rotating engine.
286570 is a stretch-type drive belt, which differs from many accessory belts that use a separate tensioner to maintain contact with the pulleys.
The belt operates continuously at high speed in a hot engine-bay environment. Cracks, rib damage, fraying, glazing or other visible wear can indicate replacement is required. Unusual noises or charging problems should also be investigated, as irregularities can involve the belt, pulleys or alternator.
When replacing the belt, inspect its running surfaces and associated pulleys and make sure the correct belt is selected for the exact application.
Genuine Maserati parts catalogues document 286570 across compatible Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte M156 applications, but fitment should always be confirmed by engine specification and complete VIN.
