xGenuine Porsche Engine Spark Plug 99917022390 — Factory Ignition Performance
The Genuine Porsche Engine Spark Plug 99917022390 is the original-equipment spark plug engineered for your Porsche's engine. Every combustion event in your engine starts with the spark plug: it fires thousands of times per minute to ignite the air-fuel mixture. A worn or wrong-spec plug means incomplete combustion — and that shows up as rough idle, hesitation, higher fuel consumption and lost power.
Fitting the genuine 99917022390 restores the exact heat range, electrode gap and thread geometry your engine was calibrated around, so ignition stays crisp across the rev range.
Function — What the Spark Plug Does
The spark plug delivers the high-voltage spark that ignites the compressed air-fuel mixture in each cylinder. The 99917022390 is built to Porsche's specification for electrode materials, insulator design and heat range — the rate at which the plug sheds heat to the cylinder head. Get the heat range right and the plug stays clean without overheating; get it wrong and you invite fouling or pre-ignition.
Failure Symptoms — When Plugs Need Replacing
Worn spark plugs cause a rough or lumpy idle, hesitation and stumbling on acceleration, engine misfires (often flagged by a flashing check-engine light), harder cold starts and noticeably higher fuel consumption. On inspection, old plugs show eroded electrodes, heavy carbon deposits or a widened gap. Porsche service schedules treat plugs as a routine wear item — if you don't know when they were last changed, they are overdue.
Genuine Advantage — Why OE Plugs Matter
Modern Porsche engines run tight ignition calibrations, and the spark plug is part of that calibration. Genuine plugs match the specified heat range, reach and electrode design, so the engine management's ignition maps behave as intended. Aftermarket plugs with a slightly wrong heat range can foul in traffic or overheat at sustained speed — both shorten plug life and risk misfire damage to catalytic converters.
Install Notes — Precision Torque, Clean Threads
Spark plug replacement is routine workshop work but demands care: work on a cool engine, blow debris out of the plug wells before removal, and torque the new plugs to the manufacturer's specification — overtightening damages threads and the plug's internal seal, undertightening causes poor heat transfer. Always replace plugs as a complete set and check the ignition coils while access is open.

Why Choose European Autospares for This Part
Ignition Exactly as Calibrated
The genuine plug's heat range and electrode design match your Porsche's ignition maps — crisp throttle response, smooth idle, full power.
Protects Coils and Catalysts
Correct, consistent spark reduces misfires that stress ignition coils and overheat catalytic converters — cheap insurance against expensive repairs.
Better Fuel Economy
Complete combustion from fresh OE-spec plugs means your engine burns fuel efficiently instead of wasting it on incomplete burns.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
xHow often should spark plugs be replaced on a Porsche?
Spark plugs are a scheduled wear item — intervals depend on the engine and plug type, typically measured in tens of thousands of kilometres. If you notice rough idle, misfires, poor starting or higher fuel consumption, inspect them regardless of mileage. Always replace the full set together, never one plug alone.
What are the symptoms of worn spark plugs?
The classic symptoms are rough idle, hesitation under acceleration, engine misfires with a check-engine light, difficult cold starts and increased fuel consumption. On removal, worn plugs show eroded electrodes, carbon fouling or an over-wide gap.
Will the 99917022390 spark plug fit my Porsche?
Spark plug fitment depends on the engine, variant and production date. This plug is listed by OE part number 99917022390 — send us your complete VIN and our parts team will verify it is the correct plug for your engine before you order.
Are genuine Porsche spark plugs better than aftermarket?
Yes for a precision engine. Genuine plugs match the heat range, reach and electrode specification the ignition system was calibrated for. A wrong heat range fouls in traffic or overheats at speed, and inconsistent gaps cause misfires that can damage catalytic converters — the genuine plug avoids all of that.
