Technician’s Advisory: Timing work on the AJ133 / AJ126 engines requires the factory camshaft and crankshaft locking tools and must only be done by a technician experienced with these engines. Inspect the chains, guides, hydraulic tensioners and chain lubricating jets as a set and renew worn items together; two blades are required per engine, one per bank.

Yes. The LR051013 is a genuine Land Rover OE timing chain tensioner blade — the updated lever specified in the factory parts catalogue and Land Rover’s timing chain service programme for the AJ133 5.0L V8 and AJ126 3.0L V6 engines. Two are fitted per engine, one on each cylinder bank, inside the timing cover.
It is a timing chain part. The blade sits inside the front timing cover, where the hydraulic timing chain tensioner pushes against it to keep the timing chain tensioned. It has no connection with the external accessory drive belt — but if you have a cold-start timing rattle, it may be the part you need.
The classic sign is a rattle or clicking from the front of the engine for a few seconds on a cold start, which can progress to a constant rattle as wear increases. Left alone, a worn blade lets the timing chain run slack, accelerating chain and guide wear and risking jumped timing, which can seriously damage the engine.
It fits the AJ133 5.0L V8 and AJ126 3.0L V6 supercharged petrol engines: Range Rover (L405), Range Rover Sport (L494), and the earlier Range Rover (L322), Range Rover Sport (L320) and Discovery 4 5.0 V8 models covered by the timing chain bulletin.
